1) Click on the 'Start' button, then highlight the 'Control Panel", then 'Network Connections', then click on your network connection.
2) In the new box, click 'Properties'
3) In the new box, make sure that there is a check next to 'Show icon in notification area when connected'.
4) In the new box, click on 'Obtain an IP address automatically' and click on 'Obtain DNS server address automatically'Click 'OK'
5) You should now be looking at the window below. Click on the 'Advanced' tab.
6) Place a check mark next to 'Protect my computer and network...' by clicking in the box to its immediate left.
7) Click 'OK' on all remaining windows. Congratulations. You have successfully setup your computer to connect to the Internet through your Cable Modem and enabled the built in firewall to protect your computer!
