Mac Mail Set-up Directions
Important!!! These settings only apply to email addresses hosted by Ashland Home Net. If you use a web-based mail service (Yahoo, Gmail, Hotmail, etc.) you will need to obtain the proper settings from them.
Mac Mail 3.5 Settings
These screenshots are from Mail 3.5, included with OS 10.5 Leopard. If you are using a previous version, it should be similar, but some screens might not look exactly the same.
In Mail, click the Mail menu at the top, and select Preferences...

Click Accounts

Click the + in the lower-left corner.

Fill in the boxes with your name and email address. The password is the password you gave us when we created the account. If you can't remember it, we can't tell you what it is, but we can reset it. Click Continue

If this is the only computer you will access your mail from, the server type will be POP. If you plan on checking your mail from multiple computers, the server type will be IMAP.
Fill in the information for your incoming server. For @opendoor.com, and custom domains previously hosted by Open Door Networks, the incoming server is mailx.opendoor.com.
For all other domains the incoming server is mail.domain. So, for @ashlandhome.net, the incoming server is mail.ashlandhome.net.
The user name is the first part of your email address. The password is the password you gave us when we created the account. If you can't remember it, we can't tell you what it is, but we can reset it. Click Continue

Fill in the information for the outgoing server. For @opendoor.com, and custom domains previously hosted by Open Door Networks, the outgoing server is mailx.opendoor.com.
For all other domains the outgoing server is mail.domain. So, for @ashlandhome.net, the outgoing server is mail.ashlandhome.net.The user name is the first part of your email address. The password is the password you gave us when we created the account. If you can't remember it, we can't tell you what it is, but we can reset it. Click Continue

Now you'll see the Account Summary. Make sure everything looks correct. Click Create

Click the red dot in the upper-left to close the Mail Preferences.
